What Is Tallow?Tallow is a natural fat obtained from beef, which has been carefully rendered and purified for use in a variety of products, including skincare. For generations, it was a familiar ingredient in traditional balms, soaps and moisturising preparations. Tallow is naturally rich in fatty acids, including oleic, palmitic and stearic acids, which contribute to its excellent emollient properties. These fatty acids help soften and condition the skin, while forming a protective layer that can help reduce moisture loss. Our Tallow – Sourced with Care in Devon

We are proud to source our organic grass-fed beef tallow from Hayes Meadow, a Devon farm that shares our appreciation for carefully produced, high-quality natural ingredients.
Hayes Meadow raises its cattle on certified organic, 100% grass-fed pasture, with an emphasis on regenerative farming practices, biodiversity and animal welfare.
Their tallow is carefully rendered on the farm, without aggressive deodorisation, bleaching or chemical refining.
This approach preserves the natural character of the tallow, producing a beautifully rich ingredient that forms the foundation of our own handmade skincare formulations.
We particularly value being able to source this important ingredient locally, supporting another Devon business while knowing more about its origins and preparation.

Our Whipped Tallow Balm transforms rich grass-fed tallow into a wonderfully soft, airy balm that melts gently on contact with the warmth of your skin.
Blended with carefully selected botanical oils, including organic jojoba, organic apricot kernel and camellia, it provides rich moisturising care without the heavy feel you might expect from a traditional tallow balm.

Tallow Body Cream
Rich, Creamy and Comfortingly Moisturising
Our Tallow Body Cream combines organic grass-fed beef tallow with moisturising ingredients to create a beautifully smooth, creamy body moisturiser.
Unlike our water-free whipped balm, our body cream is an emulsion, combining water-based and oil-based ingredients to create a different, lighter application experience.
It spreads easily across the skin, helping to moisturise, soften and leave it feeling comfortable and cared for.

Whipped Tallow Balm or Tallow Body Cream?

Our Whipped Tallow Balm is a rich, water-free formulation, ideal for those who enjoy concentrated balms and luxurious botanical oils.
Our Tallow Body Cream has a creamier, more traditional moisturiser texture, making it a lovely choice for everyday bodycare.
Both are individually formulated using our carefully sourced Devon tallow, but each offers a different texture and application experience.
Does Tallow Have a Natural Scent?
Because we use carefully rendered, non-deodorised grass-fed tallow, it may retain a very faint natural aroma.
This is part of the character of the ingredient and is perfectly normal.
We carefully balance our formulations with complementary botanical oils and, where selected, beautiful essential oil blends to create products that are enjoyable to use.
For those who prefer skincare without added fragrance, we also offer unscented options.
Is Tallow Skincare Suitable for Everyone?
Everyone's skin is different, and what feels wonderful for one person may not suit another.
Our tallow products are particularly appealing to customers who enjoy rich, moisturising skincare, especially for dry-feeling skin.
However, tallow is an animal-derived ingredient and is therefore not suitable for vegans.
For customers who prefer plant-based alternatives, we also offer a range of vegan skincare products made with beautiful botanical oils and plant butters.
